The Summer of Moving

I must say, I am surprised at how I pulled off Summer 2009. Summary: no rent; no home; two suitcases.

In particular:

  • June 6: Graduation from Bennington College
  • The next week: Vacation with my family, visiting Boston, MA and New York, NY
  • For three weeks: Montéal, QC, Canada with Kellina
  • The next week: The City of New York, NY working on the motif paper with Andrew
  • The next week: Stay with Ang in North Quicy, MA (outside of Boston) and apply for jobs
  • The next week: House-sit for my friend Gale's family in Littleton, MA (way outside of Boston) and interview for a job
  • The next two weeks: Montréal and Georgeville, QC, Canada with Kellina (planned the day before!)
  • The next two weeks: Brighton, MA with Jaren, starting a job
  • The next weekend: Allston, MA with future housemates.
  • Sept. 1st: a moving in fiasco, that finally concluded with my having a residence to call my own (and shared with 9 other people)
My 18-year old fresh-off-the-plane-from-Hawai'i self never would have imagined that this is what it would be to graduate from college, but hey, it worked, and I now have a stable job.

Lesson learned: appreciate your friends and how they can help you (in addition to, of course, their company). Return the favor (in advance, if necessary).
Minor lesson: packing becomes easy when you know where everything goes in your suitcase because you've lived out of it for three months.
