Dance!

I haven't been keeping up with this blog as I should have. Several events:

1) First jazz performance!
Jeanette Neill Dance Studio Spring 2010 Dance Concert "Moving Pictures"
Boston University Tsai Performance Center
Choreography by Jimmy Viera
Performance on a DVD

2) Big Apple Performance at Blues Cafe
Choreography by Frankie Manning
Taught by Alex Abdoulaev and Megan Damon

3) Attended the Beantown Camp 2010
A Lindy Hop camp with great teachers.
Jenny Thomas even asked me to dance!! It was the most incredible dance I've ever had. Also danced with a few of the other teachers: Ramona Staffeld, Naomi Uyama, Laura Glaess, Gabriella Cook, Karen Turman, and Jaya Dorf. (!!!)
We also did performances based on our track. I was in the 4th level. I'm unsure of how mine went. Performance will be on a DVD.
Also, I entered my first Jack & Jill. I did the intermediate level (the middle of three levels). I didn't place (and I found that my dance vocabulary significantly diminished), but it was fun, and I should keep doing it.

4) Summer Stages Dance Workshop 2010.
Great classes with Daniel Charon, Dan Wagoner, and Risa Steinberg! Also performed new work by Daniel Charon and Choreographers' Project Fellow Dorian Nuskind-Oder at the ICA.

5) Anikai Dance
Danced with Wendy Jehlan and Anikai Dance on Georges Island. It was an adaptation of Forests, but with a duet and trio for me and another new dancer and Wendy for the trio.

6) Boston Ballet Adult Summer Program
Missed the first week because I injured my toe at Summer Stages. I did get ballroom classes from Marisa for free, though. Attended the second week, which included one ballet class and one enrichment class (ballroom, modern, and jazz). I even performed a short jazz number in their showing at the end of the program.
